If you arrive by car, there is a great opportunity to leave it at a free parking lot and continue your journey by public transport.
What is Park & Ride (P+R)?
- These are special parking lots where you can leave your car free of charge for 24 hours.
- After this time, a fee applies.
- Direct buses or trams run from these parkings to the city center.
Main P+R parking lots in Luxembourg:
- P+R Bouillon — about 10 minutes drive to the center, free parking for 24 hours, and regular buses to the center.
- P+R Luxembourg-Sud — the largest with 811 parking spaces, near Howald train station.
- P+R Kockelscheuer — 552 parking spaces, convenient for those coming from the south.
- P+R Cloche d’Or — located in the business district Gasperich, near shopping centers.
- P+R Esch-Belval — near the university and cultural center.
What to See in Luxembourg?
1. Admire the Adolphe Bridge and the Spuerkeess Building
The Adolphe Bridge is not only an architectural gem of Luxembourg but also a symbol of the country’s independence. Its impressive arch has become one of the city’s landmarks. Nearby is the magnificent neo-Gothic building of Banque et Caisse d’Épargne de l’État, commonly known as Spuerkeess. It resembles a real castle and fits perfectly into the city’s panorama.

2. Enjoy the Panorama from Place de la Constitution 🇱🇺🌳
Place de la Constitution is one of Luxembourg’s most famous squares, located at the edge of a cliff with an incredible view over the Petrusse valley. Here stands the monument “Gëlle Fra” (Golden Lady) — a symbol of national independence. The square is a perfect spot for photos, relaxation, or the start of a walk.
Be sure to go down below — under the square lies the picturesque Parcs de la Pétrusse. Cozy paths, bridges, and cliffs create the atmosphere of a true urban oasis.

3. Visit Cathédrale Notre-Dame – Luxembourg’s Gothic Gem ⛪🎶
Cathédrale Notre-Dame is the main Catholic cathedral of Luxembourg, built in Gothic style with Renaissance elements. It’s not just an architectural highlight of the city but also a place filled with silence, the light of stained glass windows, and the grandeur of spiritual heritage. Inside, there is a crypt with royal tombs as well as an organ whose sound enchants visitors.

4. Scenic Corridor Viewpoint and Grund from Above 🏙️🌿
Scenic Corridor is a cozy panoramic walkway along the city walls offering an impressive view of the Grund district spread below along the Alzette river. It’s especially beautiful at sunset: old houses, bridges, green slopes — like a postcard. This is one of the best photo spots in Luxembourg.
Right nearby is a true hidden gem — The Gudde Weather. It’s not just a bar but an atmospheric art space with a beer garden, music, and open-air cultural events. The perfect place to relax after a walk.

5. Descend to Grund and Walk to Pont du Grund Bridge 🏘️🌉
Grund is a charming historic district right in the heart of Luxembourg, nestled in a valley between cliffs. Narrow cobblestone streets, old houses, and the mirror-like Alzette river create the feeling of a stroll through a medieval fairy tale. It’s quiet, green, and very atmospheric here.
Walk along the riverbank and then head to the Pont du Grund — one of the most picturesque bridges in the city. It offers a panoramic view of the Upper City cliffs, the cathedral, greenery, and stone facades — a perfect photo spot.

6. Abbaye Neimënster and Casemates du Bock 🏛️🕳️
After visiting Pont du Grund and the Grund district, walk a bit uphill — you will find yourself near Abbaye Neimënster. This former Benedictine abbey has been restored and transformed into a cultural center hosting exhibitions, concerts, and sometimes informal tours with tastings for a symbolic fee.
From the abbey, it’s almost a direct route to the Casemates du Bock. These are 18th-century underground tunnels carved into the rock, featuring a complex of galleries, battlements, and casemates — part of the old fortifications that earned Luxembourg the nickname “Gibraltar of the North.” During your visit, enjoy magnificent views of Grund, the bridge, and the river through narrow stone windows.

7. Main Square of Luxembourg and Palais Grand-Ducal 🏛️✨
After visiting the Casemates du Bock, take a walk to the Main Square of the city — the heart of Luxembourg with the atmosphere of an old European town. It’s always bustling with people, cafés, and street musicians performing.
On the square stands the Palais Grand-Ducal — the official residence of the Grand Duke of Luxembourg. Its impressive Renaissance-style architecture attracts tourists from all over the world. In summer, you can watch the changing of the guard, and the façade is adorned with exquisite decorative details.


8. Luxembourg Opera (Grand Théâtre de Luxembourg) 🎭🎶
End your stroll by visiting the Grand Théâtre de Luxembourg — a modern opera house that serves as a cultural hub of the city. It hosts opera performances, ballet, drama productions, and concerts of various genres.
The architecture impresses with its blend of classical and contemporary elements, while the interior creates a special atmosphere for true art lovers.

9. Panoramic Elevator of Pfaffenthal 🚡🌆
Don’t miss the Panoramic Elevator — a panoramic lift that takes you from the lower part of the city (Grund) up to the upper level of Luxembourg. From here, you get incredible views of the city, river, and medieval buildings. It’s a quick and convenient way to see the city from above and save energy for more walking.
